Tragedy in Moscow: Death Toll Hits 115 in Concert Hall Attack
Moscow: The death toll from the terror attack at Moscow’s Crocus City Hall has climbed to 115, with further increases expected, as per the Investigative Committee of Russia.
Moscow region governor Andrey Vorobyov announced compensation of $32,500 for the families of the deceased and $10,840 for the injured. Russian Security Service (FSB) director Alexander Bortnikov informed President Putin of 11 detentions related to the attack.
Despite US warnings about a potential attack, President Putin dismissed them as “provocative.” All four terrorists directly involved in the assault have been apprehended. The attackers reportedly had contacts on the Ukrainian side.
Emergency services continue recovery efforts amid rubble, revealing more casualties. The assailants used automatic weapons and incendiary devices, causing extensive damage.
The incident occurred during a concert, resulting in chaotic scenes and multiple casualties. International condemnation poured in, with leaders expressing solidarity and denouncing terrorism.
Notably, UK, India, US, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan have all condemned the attack and extended condolences to the victims’ families. Russia’s Foreign Ministry labeled it a terrorist act, urging global condemnation.
